The worst collection of movie trailers ever forced upon thee?

| o | - "What to Expect When Wou're Expecting" aka "Cameron Diaz pretends to get fat" aka "Expecting crap"
So last night a lovely Sunday evening screening of Friends with Kids was preceded by what I believe may have been the worst quartet of film trailers imaginable. I had to write them down and send them in a text message to myself in order to not block out the pain…

- Tree baby
- Expecting crap

This is meant to be a Resident Evil trailer, not an ad for Sony. Honest.

What a bloody weird “trailer”.
So basically a 20 second pre-roll ad for Sony and then some nice shots of Milla Jovovich looking moody.
Whatever gets bums on seats and sells a few phones I guess!
Resident Evil: Retribution will be released in September by Screen Gems. It will come as no surprise to find out that Screen Gems are a subsidiary company of Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Herzog goes Into the Abyss
The trailer for Werner Herzog’s latest documentary is now online.
I saw it at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and took a lot from it. It’s always going to be hard to find balance and humour when capital punishment is your subject matter and you’ve to talk to killers and victim’s families, but Herzog does a magnificent job.
Since TIFF the film has played at a number of festivals, including a recent screening at the London Film Festival. It will receive a limited release in North America from November 11th before being shown on Investigation Discovery – the Discovery Channel were the film’s financiers so get first dibs.
A full spooool review is forthcoming. But in the meantime here’s a lovely chat Werner did with The Guardian at TIFF.
